Job Title: Matron for Children's Acute Areas

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic nurse to join our team as a Matron for Children's Acute Areas at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.

About the Role

The Matron will be responsible for overseeing the inpatient clinical areas and nurse specialists on the University Hospital Lewisham site. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to develop their leadership skills and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and agree bank requirements and usage, controlling bank and agency spend.
  • Oversee recruitment processes and ensure timely completion.
  • Performance manage staff with direct responsibility for continuous performance review and appraisal.
  • Support ward/departmental Nursing Clinical Leads in managing staff absence and reporting trends to the Head of Nursing.
  • Empower and enable staff to perform their roles effectively.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Registered and Practising Nurse qualification.
  • First Degree and Masters Degree or working towards.
  • Robust evidence of relevant CPD in the last 2 years.
  • At least 3 years' experience as a Gynaecology Manager/Matron.
  • Experience in budget management, business planning, change management, HR management, and child protection.
