We are recruiting a Senior Mechanical Design Specialist to lead our engineering team at Latitude Recruitment.

This role involves conducting market research and developing innovative engineering solutions for industrial mechanical and automation equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop product specifications for new engineering research projects.
  • Apply engineering principles, calculations, and industry-specific design software (CAD, FEA) for design and analysis tasks.
  • Utilize in-house tools such as CNC machines, laser cutting, and brake press equipment to design, develop, and build prototypes with moving mechanical parts, AC/DC motors, and electromagnetic equipment.
  • Collaborate with various departments (manufacturing, quality assurance, marketing) to ensure product viability and alignment with company goals.
  • Experience working within mature PLM/NPI processes.
  • Maintain thorough records of research, design, testing, and development activities.
  • Investigate failures, participate in design reviews, modify drawings, and prepare work packages for others to carry out as necessary.
  • Consult with manufacturing and fabrication teams to design and develop tooling and processes.
  • Evaluate results from product testing and analyze impact on design.
  • Ensure the validity of product performance criteria through evaluation of marketing requirements, customer feedback, field research, competitive product performance, and latest product standards.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of a recognized NPI process.
  • Experience working within a mechanical/machinery or automation environment.
  • 3D Modeling.
  • Design for manufacture experience.

Monday to Thursday: 08:00-16:30, Friday: 08:00-14:30
