About the Role

This permanent, full-time position as a Methods Engineer is an exciting opportunity to join our team at our Birkenhead site. You will be working closely with our customers through maintenance and operation optimisation with customised solutions for spare parts, repair, and overhaul activities on existing trains for brake discs, brake pads, brake blocks, self-contained dynamic brake systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serving as a key link between Operations and the Engineering team to provide cost-effective manufacturing systems for new and existing programs.
  • Optimising the assembly and manufacturing process by studying product and manufacturing methods, then designing and implementing improvements.
  • Designing and installing tools, fixtures, test rigs, and jigs to assist the manufacturing process.
  • Reviewing new technologies to improve capacity/quality.
  • Developing business cases and recommendations for management review.
  • Leading improvement projects and giving presentations to managers and staff.
  • Supporting Production with the investigation of complex problems, analysing, and recommending corrective solutions or improvements to ensure proper production flow.
  • Measuring and analysing standard times, recommending and implementing improvements.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An HNC/Degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • Solid knowledge of Health & Safety legislation.
  • Production/Methods Engineering experience in production environments.
  • Experience working within a Lean environment.
  • MRP experience, use of problem-solving tools e.g., QRQC, 5Y, Ishikawa, 8D, design of line layouts.
  • IT literacy and proficiency with Microsoft applications.
  • Presentation skills.
