Learning Support Professional
About the Role:We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Professional to join our team at Polaris Community. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and personal development of our students.
The successful candidate will be responsible for working closely with teachers to raise the learning and attainment of pupils, while promoting their independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion.
You will also assist pupils in accessing the curriculum, participating in learning, and making better choices around their behaviour and attitude to learning.
In this rewarding role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the lives and lifelong learning of vulnerable children who deserve high-quality teaching in a safe educational provision.
Key Responsibilities:- Dedicated to mentoring and supporting one pupil or a small group of up to five pupils
- Supporting the Classroom Teacher during lessons
- Reporting on pupils' progress and concerns, and liaising with other school staff to ensure pupils' needs are met
- Supervision of pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips
- Assisting with lesson planning and classroom preparation
- Setting work where appropriate, and marking
- Building positive relationships with your pupil/s and driving interaction and positive learning outcomes
- A strong basic education, with at least a Level 2 qualification in Maths and English, and sound IT skills
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant
- Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an Educational setting, demonstrating expertise and skills in understanding the needs of all pupils and adapting support to meet individual pupil needs
- Demonstrating a level of subject and curriculum knowledge in designated curriculum areas and applying it effectively to support learning
- Experienced and confident enough to lead on a specialism, such as Reading, Mathematics, Forest School, etc.
- Experience of behaviour management and techniques
- Committed to professional development and willing to learn
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work
Our competitive salary package includes a generous annual salary of £28,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a range of benefits, including company pension, life assurance, and employee discount scheme.
