About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our Music Communications team as a Chief Marketing Officer for Music Programming.

This is a key role that will contribute to the promotion of our arts and learning programming, with a primary focus on press and media coverage. The successful candidate will have direct responsibility for proactive and reactive media handling, driving positive preview, listings, and review coverage, while identifying potential risks in collaboration with the Communications Manager.

The ideal candidate will work closely with the marketing and digital teams to ensure communications strategies, campaigns, and tactics are fully integrated across all channels, as well as collaborate with our Creative Collaboration team on learning and community programs when music-related.

In addition, the successful candidate will build strong relationships with key stakeholders within the music industry, including members of the press, resident and associate companies, producers, record labels, agents, artists, curators, and performers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver creative audience-focused communications campaigns to showcase the Barbican's music programming
  • Proactive and reactive media handling to drive positive coverage
  • Collaborate with marketing and digital teams to integrate communications strategies
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders in the music industry

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A proven track record in communications and marketing, particularly in the arts or music sector
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft compelling copy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience of working with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
