ScottishPower's Customer Business Regulation Team is growing to support the evolution within the energy market, including the transition to net zero. You can help by supporting the Customer Business influence the evolving policy and regulatory framework and define its strategic approach within that framework.

Key Responsibilities

We're recruiting for regulatory experts with the skills and experience we need to help us shape the regulatory environment in which ScottishPower's Customer Business operates. As a Lead Regulation Manager, you'll have the vision and expertise to understand complex, evolving and often inter-linked regulatory proposals, including those areas that are supporting development of products and services needed to transition to net zero.

You'll engage with senior management in ScottishPower, including at CEO and Director level, providing advice and guidance to ensure ongoing compliance and support development of new products and services aligned to our strategy for the future energy retail market. You'll also engage externally with Ofgem, Government and other third parties at a senior level, drafting often public responses to key Government and regulatory consultation documents and papers, to ensure that ScottishPower's position is presented externally to minimise risk, develop opportunities and support ScottishPower Group objectives.

You'll have an oversight across the activities of the full Regulation Team, and will lead within the team on co-ordination and management of regulatory risk management and reporting activities to ensure we meet our regulatory obligations and react to and mitigate risk appropriately. The Lead Regulation Manager will also have responsibility for the management and resource allocation of a team of analysts and senior analysts and will support the Head of Regulation in developing a robust and resilient skillset within the analyst pools to support a more agile approach to our regulatory activity.

Requirements

You'll be highly literate with experience of creating and influencing change at organisation and industry level with proven ability to communicate effectively including providing strong directional support to Directors and senior management. You'll have the ability to prioritise, work under pressure and handle multiple often complex and inter-related issues with conflicting externally set deadlines.

You'll have proven experience of working in a regulatory role, either within or interfacing with Government, the energy regulator, or a similar external regulator or agency on aspects of competitive markets and operations including in particular consumer, social and environmental affairs, licensing and enforcement.

You'll have thorough knowledge of how the regulatory policy process works and a comprehensive understanding of the political, regulatory and consumer landscapes, the interfaces and dependencies between each and the ability to use this to identify, evaluate and influence current and future risks and opportunities to minimise financial exposure and contribute to the achievement of strategic business objectives.
