Overview
We are recruiting for a Principal Chassis Engineer to join our client, a leading manufacturer of luxury-handcrafted motorcycles. The successful candidate will oversee the design of new class-leading motorcycle chassis and manage the production of realistic plans and timelines.
Salary: £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
Job Description
The Principal Chassis Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the application of relevant industry standards and benchmarking of competitor vehicles. They will also approve designs and drawings, support in the selection of applicable materials and manufacturing process, and manage chassis-specific design reviews.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing and managing the design of new motorcycle chassis
- Ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices
- Production of realistic plans and timelines
- Approving designs and drawings
- Support in material and manufacturing process selection
- Manage design reviews
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Hands-on engineering and mechanical experience
- A minimum of 10 years automotive engineering background or 5 years motorcycle experience
- Experience with CAD software (CREO preferred but not essential)
- An understanding of motorcycle chassis design and its interaction with powertrain and electronics
- A knowledge of DFM and DFA
- Experience liaising with supply chain partners
