About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Catchment Technician to join our team at South West Water. As a Catchment Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our sewage pumping stations and treatment assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and investigate the performance of treatment and pump station assets to ensure compliance with environmental protection commitments.
  • Assist in the identification, processing, and preparation of capital submissions and operational work programs to ensure effective maintenance of treatment and pump station assets.
  • Support the team in reactive response to compliance hotspots to resolve issues and suggest solutions.
  • Provide technical support to the wastewater operational teams to ensure compliance, efficiency, and asset reliability.
  • Conduct detailed action planning and contingency development to mitigate potential risks.
  • Investigate and resolve health and safety hazards and incidents.
  • Contribute to the Smart Alarm project to optimize asset performance.
  • Respond to technical enquiries and customer correspondence, providing technical information as required.
  • Support the management team in ensuring governance processes are discharged, including fire alarm testing, WAMITAB TCM site inspections, and health and safety inspections.
  • Provide field support for energy and water efficiency programs.
Requirements
  • 5 GCSEs at grades A-C or equivalent, including Maths, English, and a Science subject, or relevant qualifications such as ONC, City and Guilds, or NVQ Waste Water Process or Sewerage Control Level 2.
  • Proven ability to work within a team environment and independently.
  • Effective communication and liaison skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Technical outlook and ability to analyze and administer varied data sources to make decisions and present information for action.
  • Proficiency in computer systems, including MS Office and corporate applications.
  • Experience with fault reporting and notification.
  • Ability to adapt to changes within the WWS team and flex activities to support the wider team.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Ability to undertake out of hours standby duties alone in relation to business drivers.
