Technical Riding Inspector

Grand Central Railway Company Limited is seeking a skilled Technical Riding Inspector to join our team. As a Technical Riding Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our trains.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in East Coast Digital Programme (ECDP) System of Systems testing, providing technical support during on-train testing.
  • Respond to in-service faults and failures, collaborating with operations and maintenance control to resolve issues.
  • Conduct pre- and post-maintenance inspections on vehicles in service, ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
  • Diagnose and repair faults on rail vehicles, utilizing diagnostic software to interrogate on-board systems.
  • Record completed work in the Nexala E2M maintenance management system, providing accurate and timely updates.
  • Investigate service-affecting failures to determine root cause, collaborating with the fleet team to implement corrective actions.
  • Liaise with maintenance depots to provide action lists for priority defect rectification, ensuring efficient resolution of issues.
Requirements:
  • Minimum Level 4 Qualification or above in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a train maintenance role or a role maintaining similar assets.
  • Familiarity with office-based IT systems.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • ETCS experience.
  • Understanding of DRACAS/OKMS.
  • Experience in the maintenance and fault finding on Class 180 DMUs.
  • Experience of diagnosis and rectification of faults on rail vehicles in service.
  • Hold a valid Personal Track Safety certificate.
