About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to join our team at The University of Manchester. The successful candidate will contribute to the Modelling workstream, focusing on the prediction of tidal stream turbine array performance, accounting for wakes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyse complex flows across tidal stream sites and their interaction with large turbine arrays to predict array power performance and turbine design loading.
  • Extend and apply high-fidelity numerical models, analyse site-specific measurement data, and develop engineering models for array performance.
  • Undertake simulations for representative sites and array layouts to facilitate model evaluation relative to data from measurement campaigns.
  • Develop boundary conditions to predict spatially varying flows across the site area and apply load prediction models to inform siting and turbine design within arrays.
