Job Description

Are you passionate about Highways design and committed to sustainability? We're looking for a Senior/Principal Highways Engineer to lead our design packages and projects.

Your New Role

As our Senior/Principal Highways Engineer, you'll lead design teams, engage with disciplines, clients, and site teams, and work collaboratively as part of our expanding Highways department. Our projects include National Highways Schemes, Design and Build projects, Local Authority, and Private Developer Highway Schemes.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design teams to deliver work packages and projects.
  • Line Manage and mentor junior members of the team.
  • Drive technical excellence and help junior team members grow as Highway professionals.
  • Design and project management.
  • Undertake design checks and technical reviews.
  • Act as a highways technical lead on design tasks and packages.
  • Undertake financial arrangements for projects including fee forecasting and change control.
  • Apply and promote policies relating to Sustainability and Health and Safety.
  • Provide guidance, instruct, motivate, and manage staff.
  • Prepare bids and contract documentation.
  • Establish relationships with individuals from other organisations, generate market intelligence, and new business opportunities.

About You

We're looking for someone with a MEng / BEng (Hons) Degree in Civil Engineering, Chartered / Incorporated Engineer or actively working towards a professional qualification. You should have a good working knowledge of highways design guidance, the DMRB and MCHW, and experience in delivering Local Authority and/or National Highways projects.
