Job Title: Cost Controller

At ZipRecruiter, we're seeking a highly skilled Cost Controller to join our team. As a Cost Controller, you will play a critical role in maintaining project cost to complete budgets and ensuring accurate forecasting and cost estimation.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain project cost to complete budgets in alignment with as sold position and in coordination with budget holders.
  • Support forecast estimation and verify the accuracy of actual to date cost, including material, labor, manufactured costs, suppliers' invoices, timesheets, and travel expenses.
  • Align with project team and time schedule to ensure forecasted cost risks are accurately captured and costs time phased.
  • Check and control cost movements, compare with current scope and progress, as well as with previous forecast, and validate accuracy of estimates.
  • Communicate cost status/forecasts/risk to budget holders and drive/support risk mitigation and cost out.
  • Present all financial data in a transparent way, attend project and management review to present cost status, budget deviations, and root causes.
  • Align with Finance Controller to ensure reconciliation takes place between approved project financial data and books.
  • Align with planner to ensure costs and schedule are aligned, providing time-phased cost forecasts for sales pacing, and report on cost movement root causes impacting sales targets.
Qualifications:
  • Degree qualified in finance or engineering with financial training.
Desired Knowledge & Experience:
  • Extensive experience in cost controlling of turnkey projects.
  • Demonstrable experience leading on large and complex infrastructure projects.
  • Project finance deep understanding with expert knowledge of ERP systems (SAP).
  • Experience managing small teams within a large project.
  • Risk management processes and tools understanding.
  • Project planning experience and good P6 planning software understanding an advantage.
