About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Lifting Supervisor to join our team at Churchill Living Ltd.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe lifting and movement of materials on our construction site in Southwater, West Sussex.

As a Banksman / Slinger, you will be responsible for attaching and detaching loads, lifting, transferring and positioning loads using a variety of slings, cranes and lifting apparatus.

You will also be responsible for examining each item of equipment before it is used for safety reasons, ensuring that we conform with technical specifications, regulations and legislation.

Additionally, you will be aware of other hazards and dangers within the workspace, adopting sound safety procedures at all times.

Teamwork and communication are essential in this role, as you will take responsibility for notifying the Site Manager of any faults and providing clear and correct signals to the Crane Driver and other site colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe lifting and movement of materials on site
  • Attach and detach loads using a variety of slings, cranes and lifting apparatus
  • Examine equipment before use to ensure safety and compliance
  • Notify Site Manager of any faults or issues
  • Provide clear and correct signals to Crane Driver and other site colleagues

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Banksman / Slinger / Lifting Supervisor
  • Certification in Banksman / Slinger operations
  • Knowledge of HSE Act 1974, Construction (lifting operations) Regulations of 1961, Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998
  • Good teamworking skills and ability to communicate effectively
