Hobson Prior is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our team for a 12-month fixed-term contract.

About the Role

We are looking for a talented individual with a degree in Computer Science / Data Science or a related field and proficiency in Python and SQL. The ideal candidate will have experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, software/database/bioprocess model development, and knowledge of dashboarding tools.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Improve existing Python scripts to enhance data input into the data warehouse.
  2. Develop tools to maintain data integrity throughout its lifecycle.
  3. Develop SQL queries to improve data accessibility for different user-groups.
  4. Implement dashboards to improve data accessibility across the R&D organisation.
  5. Establish data extraction, transformation and loading operations for modelling efforts in collaboration with data scientists and bench scientists.
  6. Support models across the development lifecycle from implementation to distribution.
  7. Provide technical support for software used by R&D staff.
  8. Document all software development processes rigorously.
  9. Stay updated on state of the art data engineering and software development practices applicable to life sciences R&D.
Requirements
  • Degree in Computer Science / Data Science or related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of Python and SQL.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, software/database/bioprocess model development is desirable.
  • Familiarity with dashboarding tools such as Tableau, Spotfire and PowerBI.
