Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) in a busy school setting. Your primary responsibility will be to provide individualized support to pupils, enabling them to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide hands-on support to pupils with PMLD, promoting their independence and well-being.
  • Assist with personal care, feeding, and mobility, ensuring the pupils' physical and emotional needs are met.
  • Facilitate sensory activities, including hydrotherapy and other therapeutic interventions, to engage pupils and enhance their learning experience.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to implement individualized learning plans (ILPs), ensuring pupils receive tailored support.
  • Monitor pupil progress, reporting on their well-being and adapting support plans as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children or young people with PMLD or complex needs.
  • Experience with sensory activities, such as hydrotherapy, sensory rooms, and other interventions designed to engage pupils.
  • A proactive, 'can-do' attitude with the willingness to get involved and provide hands-on support.
  • Comfortable assisting with personal care tasks, including manual handling and feeding.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, to support pupil interaction.
  • Flexibility to work in different schools across the Keighley area.
  • A valid Child and Adult DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate.
Desirable:
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant certificate or equivalent.
  • Experience with assistive technologies and communication tools.
  • Training in manual handling, hoisting, or first aid.
