Empowering Survivors of Domestic Abuse
At Missing Link, we are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for survivors of domestic abuse. As our Community Outreach Worker, you will play a vital role in empowering survivors to increase their options, make positive choices, and achieve independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide outreach and resettlement support to enable survivors to safely maintain their current accommodation and access alternative housing, welfare benefits, and legal advice.
- Maintain an effective support service to enable survivors and their children to develop the skills and resources necessary to move on and maintain independence.
- Provide short-term support to clients around safety planning and ensuring they are aware of their options in relation to their current circumstances.
- Maintain knowledge of local services and encourage engagement to reduce isolation.
- Recognize, respect, and address the needs of service-users who face particular barriers when seeking help.
- Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of housing legislation, welfare legislation, and the welfare benefit system.
- Promote the service through building positive relationships with current and potential referrers and service users.
- Refer children and young people needing additional specialist support to the Family Workers.
- Participate in regular supervision, reflective practice groups, and annual appraisals.
