About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental Compliance Manager to lead our environmental operational excellence across our operations in the UK and Ireland. This role will drive environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives, ensuring strategy and operational tactics are executed effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage and execute multi-site responsibilities to comply with environmental laws, regulations, and permits, including required country, state, and local reporting.
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with business partners to support their success in environmental compliance, performance, and sustainability initiatives.
  3. Participate in the development, introduction, control, improvement, and application of environmental management control systems, procedures, processes, and products.
  4. Measure and analyze sites' performance against published requirements in environmental policies.
  5. Cooperate in contacts with authorities and implement notification, permission, and approval procedures according to environmental law.
  6. Participate in annual data collection and reporting, as well as controls on environmentally relevant issues.
  7. Manage environmental risk programs and/or projects, defining risk and business problems, and applying solutions.
  8. Be the environmental subject matter expert for your area, applying regulations, innovations in risk mitigation, and testing mechanisms.
  9. Drive goal and regulation-based control outcomes and/or risk reduction, informing/helping to establish mechanisms to bring risk within tolerance levels.

The Environmental Assurance and Protection team at Amazon protects our businesses and supports customer needs by proactively mitigating environmental regulatory risks and protecting the environment.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil, chemical, or environmental engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in serving as an environmental technical resource, program specialist, or program manager.
  • English written and verbal communication skills, including comfortable interfacing with site and regional leaders.
  • In-depth knowledge of EU, country, and region-specific environmental regulation.
  • Experience in engaging with Regulatory Agencies in permit applications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and the use of pivot tables and the development of charts and graphics.
  • Detailed-minded and technically-oriented to comfortably deep dive with engineering teams to understand operations processes for environmental risk assessment.
  • Experience managing change in multiple site environments and the ability to influence peers and superiors.
