We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team as a Specialist in Neurosciences at the Royal London Hospital.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to work in a specialist role within the Surgery Wards, focusing on the assessment, treatment, and clinical management of patients with neuro-oncology and neurosciences needs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for Occupational Therapy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously as part of a multidisciplinary team. This role involves developing and supporting junior therapists and students, as well as contributing to quality improvement and education initiatives.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To play a specialist role in the advanced assessment, treatment, and clinical management of patients with Occupational Therapy needs across our elective and general surgery wards.
  • This will be a split role between the OT specific clinical work (60%) and the development and support of our Occupational Therapists within the wider Surgery team (40%).
  • Neuro-oncology, Neurosurgery, Spinal, Gynae-oncology, Lower Gastro-intestinal surgery, AAU (weekend working only)

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications:
    • Diploma/degree in OT
    • Registered with Health Professions Council
    • Documented evidence of CPD, in accordance with HPC recommendations
  • Experience:
    • Post registration experience working in an acute hospital setting
    • Experience as a senior OT
    • Post registration experience in relevant clinical setting: medical wards, neurosciences, other wards in an acute setting, palliative / end of life care
    • Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
    • Experience supervising and appraising staff
    • Experience of audit/research
