We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Children's Nurse to join our Paediatric Accident & Emergency department at Ormskirk Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to children and their families in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
The department has undergone recent redesign and refurbishment, and we are proud of our excellent family-centred care. We are looking for a nurse who is an excellent role model, self-motivated, and committed to delivering high standards of quality care.
Main Responsibilities- Assess, plan, develop, and implement programmes of care to patients, providing advice in various settings.
- Carry out nursing procedures in line with current NMC standards of proficiency.
- Ensure the health, wellbeing, and independence of patients and service users across healthcare settings, maintaining associated records, and ensuring all patients receive safe and effective care.
- Supervise junior staff and all learners.
- Always understand and demonstrate the Trust values.
- Registered Children's Nurse (RNC) with current NMC Registration.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- 1st Level Registered Nurse (degree/diploma).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to network and build relationships at all levels.
- Effectively prioritise and co-ordinate own workload.
- Awareness of the need for confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to de-escalate complex situations.
- Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal, and non-verbal communication) with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Computer literacy, e.g., experience of electronic patient record.
- Frequent concentration required for drug calculation and administration.
- Ability to work within highly distressing or emotional circumstances, e.g., end of life care.
- Frequent moderate effort for several short periods of time, such as manual handling of patients and equipment.
- Dealing with frequent interruptions and competing demands.
- Able to carry out direct clinical care as required on ward or department.
- Ability to communicate in a challenging environment.
- Ability to communicate distressing information.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such, it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
