About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. As a Pharmacy Technician - Medicines Management, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective management of medicines across our paediatric services.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense NHS and private outpatient, in-patient and discharge prescriptions in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Dispense 'unlicensed medicines', extemporaneous preparations and controlled drugs as required.
- Initiate supply of medicines against clinically screened prescriptions at the request of ward pharmacists.
- Record issues, returns, and receipts to maintain an accurate stock balance.
- Support the development and implementation of medicines management policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care.
Requirements
- BTEC and NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent qualification supported by Pharmacy work experience.
- GPhC registered Pharmacy Technician.
- Medicines Optimisation Accredited Checking Technician (ACPT) qualification or willingness to work towards.
- Proven experience in hospital pharmacy, including dispensary experience and one-stop or near-patient pharmacy ward experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
