Job Overview

Sodexo is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Support Specialist for Neurodiverse Learners to join their team at HMP Northumberland. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching and a passion for supporting individuals with neurodiverse needs. The role will involve providing dedicated support to prisoners to increase their engagement with the regime, develop relevant coping strategies, and plan and implement activities tailored to their needs.



Responsibilities


  1. Collaborate with other departments to ensure that learners with neurodiverse needs receive comprehensive support, leading to improved self-confidence, independence, and knowledge acquisition.
  2. Ensure quality assurance procedures are adhered to, contributing to high standards in education and care.
  3. Contribute to the development of behaviour policies and procedures that cater to the unique needs of learners.
  4. Work closely with teaching staff to ensure activities are tailored to meet the needs of prisoners within specific subject areas, such as healthcare.


Requirements


  • A teaching qualification (CTLLS or PGCE) and a minimum of two years of qualified teaching experience.
  • A solid understanding of the SEND code of practice and the ability to manage confrontation and challenging behaviour.
  • Exceptional patience, understanding, and empathy for learners.
