Job Title: Installation Operative - Perth

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join BEAR Scotland's North West Operations team as an Installation Operative.

About the Role:

The North West Trunk Road Unit spans 1,422km of trunk road through some of Scotland's most scenic areas, including 1,501 bridges and structures. As an Installation Operative, you will be responsible for carrying out various road maintenance operations, including the erection and removal of temporary signs and barriers, hot material patching, excavation and installation of ducting, and installation of street lighting columns.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work in a team of civils operatives to deliver trunk road schemes
  • Erect and remove temporary signs and barriers
  • Perform hot material patching by hand
  • Excavate and install ducting
  • Install street lighting columns and associated cabling
  • Install and fix temporary/permanent road furniture
  • Operate power tools, small plant, and machinery
  • Drive HGV lorries
  • Prepare written returns, including fault report details
  • Ensure the health and safety of the public, colleagues, and yourself
Requirements:
  • Experience in road maintenance and repair
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety rules and procedures
  • Physical fitness for working in arduous conditions
  • Experience with small plant and machinery
  • Full UK driving license, preferably at LGV Class C level
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Flexible to working practices
  • Ability to cope with change
