Job Summary

We are looking for a Financial Controller with experience in the Hotel sector to join our team. The successful candidate will lead our finance team, ensuring all statutory and internal deadlines are met. Key responsibilities include monitoring cash flow, preparing budgets, and generating reports for the Board and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor cash flow, accounts, and other financial transactions
  • Prepare budgets, cascading and embedding through business and sites
  • Generate reports for the Board and business stakeholders on all financial elements
  • Work with Hotel GMs to own their P&L accounts
  • Oversee creation of journals, reviewing reconciliations and monthly management accounts with variance analysis
  • Responsible for and assist in the preparation of the monthly consolidated accounts and submission to Group Finance
  • Due Diligence and report preparation for Acquisitions
  • Assist in updating the appraisals of those accounts monthly, including reducing debtors, plans for remedy mindful review of corporate accounts
  • Prepare and challenge the monthly profit forecast
  • Ownership of the weekly / monthly cashflow forecast
  • Ownership of the finance monthly board pack
  • Ownership of the annual budget pack
  • Project work, e.g., leading and working with Operations and/or Commercial Revenue teams on the implementation of stock, EPOS, and auto check-in systems
  • Lead and develop the finance team, including developing and mentoring their growth and knowledge, and succession planning future
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of the VAT and other HMRC returns
  • Ensure site management teams are informed of processes and they are compliant with relevant policies and controls
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and financial accounting requirements (Financial Reporting Standards, HMRC and best practice)
  • Lead the preparation and review of annual Statutory Accounts
  • Liaise with the group finance function and external auditor in the conduct of audits, reviews and investigations and act as necessary to write and continually evolve financial accounting SOPs and service
Requirements
  • Experience in a multi-site Hotel chain/group
  • Leadership experience in a finance department
  • ACCA/CIMA qualification (desirable)
  • Minimum 5 years PQE
  • Proven budgeting and forecasting skills
  • Excellent people/interpersonal skills, with a coaching mindset
  • Sound IT skills, including financial accounting packages
  • An analytical, enquiring mind
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Good commercial and business awareness
  • Good management skills
  • Good prioritisation and strong time management
