As a PostgreSQL Development Engineer, you will be joining a well-established team working on improvements and new features for Intelerad's backend applications used by NHS trusts across the UK for a highly performant image storage and retrieval system. You will bring a wealth of experience in developing highly-performant solutions using PostgreSQL to the team.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the development and optimization of database procedures and schemas to get optimal performance from PostgreSQL.
  2. Undertake security analysis, reviews, and any required remedial measures.
  3. Develop software according to the Intelerad SDLC process.
  4. Participate in design and code reviews.
  5. Help define the technical architecture used.
  6. Champion the use of automated tools for testing and validation.
  7. Manage deliverables according to approved project plans.
  8. Participate in code maintenance, bug fixes, and various cross-functional roles with quality assurance.
  9. Work with application specialists to understand and define the behavior of new or updated features.
  10. Interaction with other teams for implementation of features and handling of support queries.
  11. Stay current with developments in your discipline and share with the team your knowledge and promote opportunities for growth and improvement.
Requirements

Required:

  1. Expert in developing optimal solutions on PostgreSQL platform (approx. 5 years).
  2. Thorough understanding of database design principles, data optimization, and data integrity.
  3. Thorough understanding of concurrency, indexing, locking, and transaction management.
  4. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical information.
  5. Demonstrated ability to compose clear and concise technical written communication.
  6. BSc/BEng (or higher) in Computer Science or similar discipline (or equivalent).

Bonus:

  1. Experience developing with MSSQL or PL/SQL.
  2. Familiarity with industry standards such as DICOM and HL7.
  3. Development of remote APIs using gRPC, RESTful, or similar technologies.
