Job Summary

\

The Ward Administrator is a vital role within our team, responsible for providing administrative support to the ward manager and nurses. As the first point of contact for patients, their friends, and families, you will ensure that messages are passed on appropriately and in a timely manner.

\

You will be dealing with bereaved relatives in a polite and courteous manner, being approachable and friendly. It is also essential to have good telephone etiquette. To highlight any referrals which require urgent attention and deal with them promptly, this can sometimes involve discussions with the medical team directly, to be able to arrange where the patient needs to be booked, it is also important to develop working relationships across the trust with consultants and their teams including medical secretaries, specialty and general managers.

Patient confidentiality should be maintained at all times. You will register patient details on Cerner ensuring a high level of data accuracy, admit and discharge on Cerner and on EPRS, book follow-up appointments as required, booking of hospital transport for patients according to the hospital Transport Policy, and liaise with the Transport team with enquiries.

We offer a competitive salary of £23,000 - £25,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits such as pension scheme, annual leave, and training opportunities.

Required Skills and Qualifications

\

We are looking for someone with a good standard of education (NVQ 2 or equivalent) and GCSE English Language or equivalent. Numerate skills are also essential. Desirable qualifications include NVQ Business Administration - Level II or equivalent, RSA II, Certificate in Office, and ICare Trained.

\

A previous experience of working in a busy environment and admin role is essential. Experience on the ICare System and Electronic Discharge Summaries System is desirable. Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic understanding of practical Data Protection issues are required.
