Clinical Lead Adult Community Speech and Language Therapist

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified speech and language therapist to work as clinical lead within the inpatient speech therapy team across the Inpatient wards, advancing clinical practice in this area of work and taking a lead in evolving and embedding best practice.
Key Responsibilities- Act in accordance with the Health and Care Professions Council code of conduct, promoting compliance with standards of conduct, proficiency, performance, continued professional development, and ethics.
- Work within the Inpatient therapy service, leading, coordinating, and developing effective clinical interventions within the specialty of Acute Medicine to advance clinical practice in the team in line with current evidence base.
- Manage autonomously a clinical workload of patients/clients at a highly specialist level, assessing and treating patients, and maintaining clinical records.
- Apply evidence-based knowledge within the highly specialist clinical area, acquired through experience and academic study at postgraduate level.
- Within the Inpatient therapy service, act as a resource and provide advice for Speech & Language Therapists, other professionals, and colleagues within the MDT about the assessment, treatment, management, and care of patients/clients who have a multi-pathological illness and/or complex psychosocial need.
- Work collaboratively with health and social care, community, and acute colleagues.
- Registered Speech & Language Therapist
- HCPC registration
- Evidence of relevant postgraduate training
- Evidence of leadership skills
- Evidence of essential skills training
- Masters-level qualification
- Experience in assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders
- Highly specialized experience of assessment and therapeutic techniques for adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders
- Evidence of mentoring/supporting staff
- Experience of assessing competency of staff and students
- At least 2 years of clinical practice at Band 6 level or above
- Experience of clinical audit and presentation of audit findings
- Experience of change management and service development
- Awareness of AHP competency frameworks
- Experience in the interpretation and implementation of professional bodies and guidelines
- Self-motivated and able to motivate team
- Proven ability to work well in a team
- Demonstrates positive attitudes and behaviors
- Postgraduate dysphagia training
- Flexible and adaptable
- Approachable and supportive to others
- Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with people with complex presentations
- Leadership skills
- Ability to make decisions and problem-solve when dealing with complex situations
- Ability to identify own learning needs and engage in self-directed learning for CPD
- Highly expert in developing and delivering training on communication and swallowing disorders within and outside of own profession
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, NSF's/Local and National initiatives
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to organize self and others
- Ability to recognize own limitations and have a willingness to share and learn skills from others
- Ability to prioritize own and others' caseload
- Attendance at relevant clinical networks or interest groups
