About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Development Manager to lead our architectural design team at Criterion Capital Head Office. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled professional to join our dynamic team and contribute to the success of our projects.

Job Description
  • Lead the Design Team: Manage and direct the design activities of the architectural team, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Programme and Organisation: Plan and coordinate the design process, from concept development to completion, ensuring that all statutory requirements are met.
  • Consultant Management: Arrange consultant tenders and manage their appointments, monitoring performance and controlling fee expenditure against deliverables.
  • Design Validation: Chair design team meetings, validate design outputs, and ensure that they meet project-specific requirements.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with hotel operations, construction teams, and consultants to develop and improve Criterion Capital's Employer Requirements and Brand Standards.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Monitor compliance with statutory and environmental obligations, identify and manage design risks, and ensure timely mitigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Value Engineering: Perform value engineering and optimisation to enhance project value.
  • Design Output: Ensure that the design output addresses all project-specific challenges.
  • Commercial Awareness: Support commercial and construction teams in achieving project goals.
  • Coordination and Progression: Coordinate inputs from various departments to ensure efficient and coordinated design progression.
  • Quality Control: Conduct design validation, rationalisation, and package review meetings to assess alternative design proposals.

Requirements:

  • Education: Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • Experience: Proven experience in managing design and providing technical guidance for hospitality, residential, and commercial developments.
  • Skillset: Strong knowledge of construction systems, RIBA plan of work, and statutory compliance requirements. Good people management, negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.

Estimated Salary: £80,000 - £110,000 per annum depending on experience.
