Illumina is a global leader in the development and application of next generation DNA sequencing technology. Our team in Cambridge applies Illumina's core sequencing technology to large scale, high throughput sequencing initiatives such as the Genomic Medicine Service.

The Role

We are seeking a talented Laboratory Supervisor to support bringing the power of the genome to human health. As a Laboratory Supervisor, you will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the Whole Genome Sequencing production service.

Responsibilities
  • Provide line management to clinical laboratory technicians.
  • Plan activities and maintain lab schedules at team level to meet daily operational needs.
  • Supervise the lab team on day-to-day activities to ensure throughput targets are met.
  • Guarantee full compliance in the lab with the International Standard (ISO 15189) and EH&S requirements.
  • Ensure all team members adhere to existing Risk Assessments (RAs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) at all times.
  • Recommend changes to team processes to improve team effectiveness.
  • Identify training requirements that support individual development and maintain efficient operations.
  • Take responsibility for the efficient use of all lab equipment within the clinical laboratories.
  • Troubleshoot issues affecting the day-to-day lab production, identifying rapid solutions to maintain targets and quality.
  • Contribute to overall team goals while maintaining individual output.
