Senior Lecturer Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a research-informed, personalized student learning experience, demonstrating creativity and innovation in the development, planning, delivery, and assessment of learning opportunities.
  • Deliver excellence in blended learning, integrating face-to-face and online teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrate thorough subject knowledge, including recent developments and professional practice.
  • Develop and use the Virtual Learning Environment to enhance the learning experience.
  • Deliver excellence in assessment, developing innovative assessment items and undertaking assessment processes in line with Centre policy and practice.
  • Participate in emerging academic, professional, and research practices.
  • Manage modules and/or small/partial programs, contributing to quality assurance processes and quality enhancement initiatives.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues in the development and delivery of programs and modules.
  • Provide personal tutorial support and serve as a key academic point of contact for students.

Additional Responsibilities at Senior Lecturer Level

  • Provide academic leadership for the development and delivery of programs, ensuring alignment with partner and regulator requirements.
  • Manage large and/or non-standard modules and programs, leading quality review processes and designing quality enhancement initiatives.
  • Ensure effective communication across academic teams to achieve high-quality student outcomes.
  • Communicate with external examiners and colleagues regarding quality and standards.
  • Contribute to the Centre's research community, participating in research groups, seeking collaborative scholarship opportunities, and supporting less experienced researchers.
  • Take a leadership role in securing and delivering financially sustainable research and/or enterprise activities.
  • Develop and maintain productive external relationships for the advancement of teaching excellence.

Requirements

  • 5 years of HE experience in the UK.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with regulators such as QAA and OFS.
  • HE Fellowship.
  • PhD.

Benefits

  • £35,000 per year + £5,000 Annual Bonus.
  • 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • 3% annual increase per year on completion of service and meeting KPIs.
