Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee security operations utilizing trained canines to ensure the safety and proper management of individuals under supervision.
  • Monitor daily routines of offenders, documenting their behavior and movements accurately.
  • Achieve and maintain certification as a canine patrol handler.
  • Ensure the readiness of assigned canines at all times through proper care and exercise.
  • Conduct regular patrols, generate detailed reports, and maintain accurate logs of activities.
  • Prevent unauthorized escapes by closely supervising and reporting on the conduct of supervisees.
  • Maintain and care for all assigned equipment to ensure operational readiness.

Essential Qualifications

  • Completion of High School or equivalent educational attainment.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License and certification as a Corrections Officer.
  • Familiarity with the policies and procedures of the Department of Corrections.
  • Capability to train and manage canines effectively.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding policies, as well as preparing reports using computer systems.

Additional Preferences

  • Experience or formal education in the training and care of canines is highly regarded.
