Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner to join our Finance Business Partnership Team at the Planning Inspectorate. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our Finance function and supporting our business areas in making informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide financial guidance and support to business area managers, helping them to improve their performance and make informed decisions.
  • Line manage a team of two Management Accountants, overseeing their day-to-day activities, providing coaching and mentoring, and ensuring they have the necessary support to progress their careers.
  • Assist in preparing Business Cases for major projects, including Digital and Data initiatives, and support ad-hoc project work, such as Spending Review Supplementary Estimates.
  • Understand operational activities within the organization, ensuring financial plans are aligned, and communicating the financial implications of decisions to stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Full professional qualification in accountancy (UK CCAB or CIMA) with current membership of a professional body.
  • Experience in effective relationship and stakeholder management, with the ability to persuade, influence, and motivate others.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to describe complex technical issues in a clear, non-technical way.
  • Experience in budget setting in a time-pressured environment, using various tools and knowledge of business intelligence.
  • Sound problem-solving skills and robust analytical and interpretative skills.
Desirable Criteria
  • A recognized Finance Business Partner qualification.
  • Experience working with SAP and outsourced shared service centers.
