Senior Clinical Psychologist

We are seeking an experienced and empathetic Senior Clinical Psychologist to oversee the psychological services across two adult acute wards and a male PICU. The successful applicant will join a dedicated team that has made significant strides in enhancing the quality of service by focusing on collaborative formulations, group psychology, and individual therapy.
The key aspects of the role will be to place a strong emphasis on risk assessment and management at a leadership level. The appointee will take the lead in facilitating reasonable adjustments for individuals with Learning Disabilities or neurodiversity.
We are dedicated to fostering the professional growth of the post holder, aiming to offer opportunities for continuing professional development, including:
- Offering supervision to the more junior Psychological positions.
- Leading on psychologically informed risk assessment and formulation, responding to the recent criticism of general risk assessment measures.
- Providing concise training sessions for the staff team.
- Taking charge of the Debrief system in the wards to ensure it's impactful and helps mitigate the long-term effects of incidents.

Job Responsibilities:- Provide comprehensive specialist clinical psychology assessment of complex clients within the service.
- Identify the nature, severity and complexity of service users' mental health problems.
- Undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual service users.
- Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the efficiency of all aspects of the clinical psychology service provided.
- Provide appropriate health and social care interventions according to service users' recovery goals.
- Assess health and social care needs as part of an integrated team.
We are looking for a candidate with:
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology, or its equivalent, including eligibility for chartered status with the BPS.
- Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Essential experience includes:
- Specialist complex psychological assessment and treatment of people with a wide range of mental health problems, of varying severity and complexity.
- Teaching, training and delivering clinical supervision.
Essential skills include:
- Assessment, evaluation and management of risk associated with mental ill health and related psychopathology.
Essential knowledge includes:
- Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies.
- Practitioner level knowledge of at least two models of psychological therapy.
