Programme Overview
Scotiabank's Corporate Banking Summer Internship programme is a 10-week opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the financial markets. The programme is designed to provide interns with a comprehensive understanding of the Corporate Banking business, including relationship management and credit-related activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist team members with the analysis of term sheets and due diligence materials, preparation of credit presentations, and negotiation of documentation with clients or other banks.
- Monitor assigned portfolio, conducting annual reviews, reviewing compliance certificates, and participating in regulatory/KYC processes.
- Research companies, assets, and transactions using public and private information sources to prepare meaningful analyses.
- Work closely with deal teams on live transactions and provide timely client support.
- Participate in marketing efforts with Directors/MDs, including distribution of marketing pitches.
- Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
What to Expect
Interns will participate in a centralised programme of activities, including a weekly speaker series with leaders from across the Bank, peer-to-peer intern presentations, and social and networking events. They will also be expected to deliver a final presentation to leaders within Corporate Banking and have the opportunity to work on a CSR activity alongside one of our chosen charities.
Requirements
- You are a penultimate year undergraduate student.
- We welcome applications from any degree discipline.
- You are available for a 10-week period between mid-June and end of August.
- You have a demonstrated interest in and knowledge of the financial markets.
- Exceptional organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinker.
- You love to learn and envision yourself working for an international organisation that heavily invests in your future.
- You have the right to work in the United Kingdom.
