Job Overview

Mace is seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to join their team. As a Senior Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of design management to deliver key strategic outcomes directly influencing strategic development. The role involves liaising with the lead designer and design consultants through all RIBA stages, managing relationships with senior stakeholders, and ensuring timely submission of RIBA stage reports and deliverables.

About the Role:

  • Liaise with the lead designer and design consultants through all RIBA stages.
  • Act as the day-to-day operational manager for any design managers or other design management resource deployed to projects.
  • Main point of contact for client design issues, ensuring relationships are managed and maintained.
  • Lead the delivery of design management to deliver key strategic outcomes directly influencing strategic development.
  • Leads with monitoring all design activities are coordinated and ensuring timely and efficient stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective design management strategies to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.
  • Manage relationships with senior stakeholders, including clients, designers, and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Contribute to the development of the company's design management policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Degree in architecture or engineering, or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Extensive professional design management experience.
  • Good understanding of the full design process, designs within listed buildings, and working on retrofit experience is beneficial.
  • Membership of ARB, RIBA, MICE, CIBSE, CIOB, RICS, CIAT, or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
  • Leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.
  • Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.

Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
