The Canon Precentor will play a key role in the day-to-day life of the cathedral, working collaboratively as part of a mutually supportive team to bring people together and build on the cathedral's strong liturgical and choral tradition.
The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the worshipping and liturgical life of the cathedral, including planning, preparing, and overseeing services, as well as maintaining a bank of liturgical material and overseeing the training and support of members of the cathedral community in worship and pastoral ministries.
Main Duties- The Canon Precentor will be responsible for the daily offices in the cathedral, especially those designated as 'Foundation Prayer', and will share fully in public worship.
- The Canon Precentor will attend and fully participate in monthly Chapter meetings and the weekly Dean's Executive and Senior Management Team meetings.
- The Canon Precentor will meet with the Dean on a 1:1 basis each week.
- The Canon Precentor will attend the Cathedral Safeguarding Committee and the Cathedral Community Committee and the Fabric Advisory Committee.
- The Canon Precentor will be an advocate for the Chapter Strategic Plan and be committed to its development and delivery.
- The Canon Precentor will be a loyal and supportive colleague, respecting confidentiality.

The successful candidate will be a qualified priest in the Church of England, with at least six years' experience in a similar role. They will be a team player, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
