About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced 2D Visual Effects Supervisor to join our team at The Mill. As a key member of our creative leadership, you will be responsible for overseeing the visual effects process from start to finish, working closely with our clients and directors to deliver high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conform and manage large and complex projects under tight deadlines.
  • Bid projects from scripts and storyboards, ensuring accurate and creative solutions.
  • Engage in calls and meetings with directors, advertising agencies, and brands to discuss project requirements and provide VFX solutions.
  • Supervise high-end shoots, providing production with clear and sensible VFX solutions.
  • Manage dailies with your team of artists, ensuring timely and high-quality results.
  • Manage external and inter-office workshare, coordinating with teams across different locations.
  • Build on your strong client base by sourcing and developing relationships with creative talent and clients.
  • Work closely with the joint Heads of 2D to research, develop, and implement new technology and creative ideas.
Requirements
  • Advanced Flame knowledge and usage is a must.
  • Advanced experience in compositing with Nuke for complex VFX projects.
  • Advanced understanding of the VFX process and ability to bid work accurately.
  • Highly innate understanding of client needs and expectations.
  • Advanced understanding of onset VFX supervision protocol and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Excellent people and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and directors.
  • A strong creative eye and artistic skills, with a deep understanding of color, light, and photography.
  • Sound aesthetic with good understanding of color, light, and photography.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and outside the box.
  • A team player with a great attitude, able to work collaboratively with others.
  • Takes feedback and direction well, with a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Exercises close attention to detail, ensuring high-quality results.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, with a strong sense of urgency and priority.
Technical Skills
  • Advanced technical knowledge of Nuke.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of Flame or timeline-based software.
  • Advanced knowledge of onset VFX supervision techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of CG rendering and compositing multi-channel EXRs.
  • Advanced understanding of 2D and 3D tracking.
  • Excellent knowledge of Nuke's 3D system.
  • Advanced understanding of colorspace pipelines.
  • Advanced knowledge of cameras, film resolutions, aspect ratios, and lenses.
  • Full CG cinematic experience is a bonus skill.
