Job Description: Civil & Structural Engineering Expert (Contract)

About the Job:

We are seeking a Civil & Structural Engineering Expert to support various major upgrades and new buildings in the nuclear industry on a contract basis. The successful candidate will have experience with design-related projects within highly regulated industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce design deliverables, including assumption notes, technical specifications, and calculation notes.
  • Perform design and analysis tasks as necessary.
  • Review and justify design decisions to the Office of Nuclear Regulation (ONR).
  • Conduct technical verifications of civil engineering documents.
  • Create and maintain CDM Designers Risk Registers and associated CDM deliverables.
  • Deliver design inputs to projects to specification and time.

Requirements:

  • Degree educated in civil and/or structural engineering, working towards chartership with ICE or IStructE.
  • Design office experience with reinforced concrete and steel structures.
  • Experience using finite element modelling software and associated post-processing software.
  • Design experience in a nuclear context or similar highly regulated context.
  • Knowledge of Eurocodes related to civil engineering and understanding of American codes of practice.
  • Understanding of the use of design tools within a BIM environment.
  • Direct experience of Nuclear industry projects.

Location: Chester

Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum
