Clinical Psychologist for Individual Funding Team
2 months ago
Position Overview
The Individual Funding Team (IFT) at Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is dedicated to providing optimal support for individuals facing complex mental health challenges. Our mission is to facilitate recovery and enhance independence while ensuring that care is closely integrated with local community resources. The IFT oversees the management of mental health funding for external care packages, including locked rehabilitation placements, residential care, supported living, and specialized therapies that are not available through our Trust.
Key Responsibilities
We are seeking a passionate and driven Band 7 Clinical Psychologist to join our team. This role is crucial in making informed placement decisions through comprehensive assessments and the creation of detailed psychological formulations in collaboration with multidisciplinary professionals. The successful candidate will:
- Develop psychologically informed care plans that set clear objectives, shape provider contracts, and support the review process to meet the psychological needs of individuals.
- Play a vital role in addressing any placement challenges, offering training and consultation to ensure continuity of care.
- Provide brief direct psychological interventions (6-8 sessions) and participate in relevant training opportunities.
- Deliver training to external providers on supporting individuals with complex presentations, including autistic spectrum conditions, psychosis, and personality disorders.
- Engage in research, service evaluation, and audits to ensure our services effectively meet the needs of our users.
About Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, delivering a range of physical and mental health services in both hospital and community settings. Our focus is on person-centered care, ensuring that services are easily accessible. We also provide health services to various facilities, including prisons and detention centers.
In 2018, NHFT received an Outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Professional Development
The successful candidate will receive support from an Assistant Psychologist and will be part of a welcoming and diverse team of professionals. Regular supervision and guidance will be provided by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist overseeing psychological services in the Mental Health Recovery Pathway. Opportunities for peer support, learning, and team-building activities will be available, along with access to a network of Clinical Psychologists across various specialties within the Trust.
This innovative role allows for personal and professional growth, with the potential to tailor responsibilities based on the interests and skills of the postholder. There may also be opportunities to engage in a split post within Adult Mental Health or another specialized area, depending on the candidate's expertise and interests.
Professional Standards
The postholder will be expected to:
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of high professional standards through active participation in CPD training and development programs.
- Engage in the dissemination of best practices in psychology across the service, maintaining a reflexive and reflective approach as a scientist-practitioner.
- Ensure meticulous clinical record-keeping, including electronic data entry and report writing, in accordance with professional codes of practice.
- Stay informed about relevant legislation, national and local policies, and issues related to mental health and specific client groups.
