We are looking for an experienced Executive Bookkeeper to join our team at Zero Surplus, a leading recruitment agency based in East Anglia. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining accurate financial records for our clients across Northants, Milton Keynes, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, and the East of England.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, journals, and accounts.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Reconcile bank statements and accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Handle payroll processing and tax compliance.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Assist with budget preparation and financial forecasting.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior bookkeeping staff.
- Collaborate with the finance team and external auditors as needed.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper, with at least 2 years in a similar role.
- A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and MS Office, especially Excel.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- High attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- A professional certification (e.g., AAT, ICB) is a plus.
