Nuclear Safety Discipline Lead

We are seeking an experienced Nuclear Safety Discipline Lead to join our team on major projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing core nuclear criticality modelling and assessment capability and delivering support to programmes, projects, and Amentum UK growth aspirations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a criticality expert in various project roles and assist programme and project criticality leads when required.
  • Assist the Head of Profession in developing capability and establishing resource strategies, recruitment plans, and competence implementation.
  • Identify, implement, review, and monitor Amentum and programme-specific management and technical arrangements to support delivery.
  • Prepare and coordinate assessment and analysis delivery for projects, interfacing with engineering, project management, project controls, and document management functions.
  • Advise Amentum leadership, engineering, programme, and project management, and clients on regulatory compliance, standards, and guidance.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Ideal candidates hold a degree or equivalent education.
  • Proven experience in nuclear fire safety assessment, primarily nuclear safety assessment and conventional fire safety assessment and management.
  • Experience applying codes and assessments in various operations and fault scenarios.
  • Experience working in two or more UK Nuclear Site Licensee Organisations.
  • Knowledge of conventional fire safety assessment.
  • Experience managing staff and contractors.
  • Knowledge of nuclear hazard identification and analytical tools.
  • Solid understanding of UK nuclear site licensing, safety assessment principles, regulatory guidance on safety assessment, and nuclear Site Licence Conditions.
  • Knowledge of Regulatory permissioning/flexible permissioning.
  • Ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting.
