Innovate for a Sustainable Future
We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer with a focus on Water Sector projects to enhance our mechanical capabilities. Your main responsibility will be to execute engineering tasks related to the design of water supply and wastewater systems, as well as non-infrastructure equipment. This encompasses pressurized mains, pumping stations, treatment facilities, and other pertinent apparatus. Your role will primarily involve design activities, engaging daily with colleagues across our global network. Additionally, there may be opportunities to expand your involvement in other areas within the MEP discipline, including client-facing or site-based roles in various significant infrastructure projects.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Contributing to the design of diverse projects for a variety of clients Coordinating design tasks and deliverables with the broader MEP team Developing and ensuring the technical integrity of designs, utilizing relevant software Ensuring adherence to both local and international engineering standards Overseeing multi-disciplinary project coordination Mentoring junior engineers in design practices Fostering relationships with clients and other stakeholders

To excel in this position, you will need:

A degree in mechanical engineering or a related field Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) Relevant experience in mechanical systems design The capability to provide technically sound solutions independently and, when necessary, lead the discipline A comprehensive understanding of water-based systems, including pressurized water supply mains, pumping stations, and treatment facilities Experience in hydraulic modeling of pipe networks, including steady-state and transient analysis Knowledge of pipe support and stress analysis Familiarity with other mechanical equipment such as lifting devices, actuated hydraulic gates, and building services is advantageous Proficiency in 3D and BIM design methodologies Awareness of relevant Water Industry Specifications (WIMES) Experience applying CDM regulations to design processes Background in design and build projects, including on-site representation as a designer, is beneficial
