Job Title: Consultant in Psychiatry Learning Disabilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Swansea Bay University Health Board. The successful candidate will work closely with our team of Consultant Learning Disability Psychiatrists to provide high-quality care to patients with learning disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialist psychiatric care to patients with learning disabilities, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans that meet the individual needs of patients.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to learning disability services.
  • Participate in clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives to ensure the highest standards of care.
  • Engage in research and education activities to advance the field of learning disability psychiatry.
Requirements:
  • Eligibility to register with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Experience in working with patients with learning disabilities.
  • Knowledge of UK hospital systems and policies related to learning disability services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Desirable Qualities:
  • Experience in teaching and training medical students and junior doctors.
  • Knowledge of risk management and clinical governance principles.
  • Ability to initiate, progress, and conclude research projects with publication.
