We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineering Manager to lead our team of professional software engineers in developing cutting-edge control systems, GUI, advanced analytics, and overall management of our software portfolio. As a key member of our Engineering Management team, you will drive us toward our goal of becoming a world-class semiconductor equipment supplier with a cutting-edge manufacturing and development facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and drive our software strategy, recommending new tools and techniques to improve product quality and the development process.
  • Carry out line management for a team of software engineers, providing guidance and technical support.
  • Programme management of software projects, defining specifications and overseeing delivery to ensure success.
  • Ensure the quality of all software produced by the team is high and fully documented.
  • Work closely with the engineering management team to develop customer intimacy for all our engineers and collaborate with other parts of the engineering team and business.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in a computing and/or physics-related discipline.
  • Extensive software experience, including C++, C, assembler, and PLC programming.
  • Significant experience in management responsibilities for a development team.

Professional Skills/Abilities:

  • Practical experience in PC-based C++ development in a real-time control environment.
  • Experience in developing complex software applications to deadlines, ideally within a commercial or industrial environment.
  • Developing and delivering a software roadmap of work, balancing priority with commercial impact.

Desirable Technical Knowledge:

  • UML.
  • TCP and UDP socket communications.
  • Serial Protocols (RS232/RS485).
  • Field bus systems (Profibus/DeviceNET/Ethernet-based).
  • Motion Control (Servos and Steppers).
  • PLC (programmable logic controllers).
  • Embedded PC systems.
  • HMI (Human/Machine interface) design.
  • Continuous integration (and unit testing), Source Control.
