About the Role

Ecclesiastical Insurance Group, a leading international financial services company, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Actuarial Investment Analyst to join its Gloucester office.

As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in providing expert capital modelling and actuarial advice to support the investment and business decision-making process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and calibration of the Group's capital model for investment and market risk, working closely with the Head of Investments.
  • Support the Head of Investments in delivering investment analysis, including capital modelling, to inform the Group's investment strategy.
  • Monitor changes in the ESG model from the external provider and analyze their impact on Group Capital.
  • Deliver timely and accurate quarterly Market risk and Economic Scenario Generator (ESG) updates to the Group Capital Team, reflecting changes in the Group's investment risk profile and current economic conditions.
  • Present and justify changes in model design and calibration to a panel of actuarial managers for independent challenge.
  • Prepare reports for the Group's internal model governance oversight committee, summarizing changes to Market risk and/or ESG model design or calibration.
  • Design solutions to close model weaknesses and limitations identified in respect of market risk modelling.
  • Maintain market risk & ESG documentation for the Group's internal capital model, including model output analysis, calibration, and methodology.
  • Lead the development of investment data solutions to support model inputs in respect of the Group's investment portfolio.
  • Contribute to discussions within the team or department as appropriate.
  • Participate in technical actuarial discussions on market risk and actuarial concepts covered in professional studies.
  • Act as the key contact on market risk for Group actuarial teams, Finance, and the Group's ESG provider.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Degree in a relevant math-based subject, with 6+ exams achieved in actuarial studies.
  • Relevant experience within an actuarial role.
  • Strong communication skills, with proven ability to build effective relationships.
  • Strong technical skill set, applying existing technical knowledge to new situations.
  • Demonstrates sound and commercial judgment, with the ability to design practical and proportionate solutions.
  • Proven willingness and ability to engage with and challenge the business.
  • Desirable: previous experience working in investments, experience of Igloo software.
