About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Site Services Engineer to join our team at Premier Foods in Barnsley. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing site, including the maintenance of plant cooling systems, steam boiler generation, water systems, compressed air systems, fire sprinkler systems, electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement maintenance activities to minimize disruption to manufacturing and site operations.
  • Support the engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure maximum utilization of engineering equipment and achieve KPIs and optimal line efficiency within the company safety, quality, and environmental policies.
  • Demonstrate safe behavior and take responsibility for the management of the health and safety of staff and contractors.
  • Provide innovative proactive engineering support services to the site based on skill, experience, and initiative.
  • Communicate daily with the Facilities Team Manager to ensure planned maintenance, engineering, and production priorities are considered.
  • Liaise with the Team Manager daily to ensure priorities are clear, understood, and communicated, ensuring optimum customer service in terms of quality, quantity, and punctuality, and promoting safe working practices at all times.

Requirements

  • Multi-skilled with an electrical bias.
  • Recognized Engineering Apprenticeship, ONC/HNC or equivalent qualification in engineering, for example, Level 3 Electrical/Electronic Engineering or similar.
  • Practical knowledge of CI tools and techniques.
  • A working understanding of Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronic technical manuals and drawings.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • IT literate.
  • Able to take own initiative and is solutions-focused.
  • Can-do attitude.
  • Excellent time management skills.

Working Hours

Rotating shifts, Week 1: 6am - 2pm, Week 2: 8am - 4pm, Early finish on a Friday, 1 weekend work in 7: 4 hours on Saturday and Sunday.
