Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Equipment Maintenance Specialist to join our team at The Francis Crick Institute. This is a full-time, permanent position that requires the ability to maintain and repair scientific equipment, minimizing disruption to scientific operations in the event of equipment failure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct planned maintenance activities on scientific equipment and instruments.
  • Diagnose and repair complex scientific apparatus.
  • Maintain quality performance standards of systems through routine testing and calibration.
  • Manage external service engineers and advise on critical spares inventory.
  • Identify and procure replacement parts for reactive tasks.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in a safe manner and complies with statutory regulations.
Requirements

We require an ONC or City Guilds FTC in electrical/electronic engineering or a relevant discipline. You should have significant experience in equipment service engineering or a related field and demonstrable experience of electronic/electrical fault-finding and repair.

You will be knowledgeable about relevant requirements, such as IET Electrical Equipment CoP, PUWER risk assessment, and COSHH. You should be able to communicate technical issues to non-technical personnel and engage in continuous improvement of service delivery.

Benefits

The Crick offers a competitive salary of £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including pension scheme, life assurance, and annual leave.
