Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Scientist to join our Clinical Microbiology team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for processing clinical specimens for microbiological testing and interpreting the results of laboratory tests and diagnostic processes.

Main Responsibilities

  • Undertake clinical technical investigations for the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of disease.
  • Coordinate, validate, and authorise the day-to-day technical activities of a section of the laboratory.
  • Contribute towards the training of technical, scientific, and medical staff.
  • Work as part of a small, busy team to deliver a high level of service quality to the Trust and the community.

Requirements

  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
  • Minimum one year's experience working in a diagnostic Microbiology lab.
  • Strong IT, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.

Working Pattern

The successful candidate will be required to work core hours from 09:00 to 17:30 Monday to Friday, with the possibility of working on Saturdays, Sundays, and Bank Holidays on a rotational basis. Participation in the Microbiology on-call service and in-house shift system may also be required.
