About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and ambitious Assistant Nursery Chef/Cook to join our team at Forest Barn Nursery School in Brentwood. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for preparing nutritionally balanced, freshly prepared meals for our children, while ensuring the safe and hygienic management of the nursery kitchen.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook meals for children with specific dietary needs
  • Instill Storal values in food and hygiene practices, adhering to Chartered Institute of Environmental Health-Food Safety, Health and Safety, and Ofsted guidelines
  • Ensure children's safety and provide rich, stimulating experiences
  • Maintain stock levels and ensure stock rotation
  • Be aware of COSHH guidelines and follow relevant procedures
  • Deputise for the Cook in all absences, with the expectation of deputising full-time when required
About You
  • Level 2 Food and Hygiene certification
  • Minimum 6 months' experience in a similar role
  • Understanding of Health and Safety regulations and COSHH
  • Alignment with Storal values of responsibility, openness, and teamwork

  • Salary: From £11.44 to £12.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
