Job Title

School of Politics and Economics Senior Research Operations Officer Job Summary:

  • Lead the administration of postgraduate research programmes and provide comprehensive support to the School, including budgetary and research grant management.
  • Collaborate with academic and student support teams to deliver day-to-day administrative support and contribute to process improvements.
  • Develop expertise in quality assurance and regulations, participate in professional networks, and maintain accurate student records.
Key Responsibilities
  • Postgraduate research programme administration, including pre-award and post-award support, managing grant finances, and preparing costs for research grant applications.
  • Develop and implement effective administrative systems, ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures.
  • Promote best practices and contribute to the development of the School's research operations.
Requirements
  • Excellent knowledge of university policies and procedures, including student and financial regulations, procurement, and travel regulations.
  • Proven experience in managing grants or large-scale projects within HEIs, with a strong understanding of the research funding landscape, including EU grants.
  • High standard of numeracy, with proficiency in IT skills, including databases, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with evidence of building good working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Working Arrangements
  • Full-time post (35 hours per week) with an indefinite contract.
  • Hybrid working model, with a minimum of two days per week in the office.
Estimated Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum
