Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Hepatobiliary (HPB) CNS service. As a key member of the team, you will work closely with patients and healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care and support.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will be responsible for delivering sensitive diagnoses, conducting clinical assessments, and coordinating patient care.

You will work alongside a well-established team to deliver care for patients with liver, pancreatic, biliary, and gallbladder disorders. Your excellent communication and documentation skills will be essential in this role, as you will be working closely with patients, families, and healthcare teams to provide comprehensive care.

The successful candidate will have the ability to coordinate care for patients with suspected HPB cancers, serve as a point of contact and source of information, and be involved in surveillance and follow-up care for patients on long-term HPB related follow-up.

You will also support Gastro and Upper GI surgical clinics, liaise with other Trusts within the sector regarding referrals, and build good working relationships within the team and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain effective communication with the wider MDT, patients, and relatives/carers, in relation to delivering results and outcomes.
  • Use your clinical judgement and decision-making skills to triage 2ww referrals, utilise the STT model where appropriate, and assess patients via telephone or F2F clinics.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of upper GI anatomy, physiology, and psychological functioning for this group of patients, producing an effective plan of care.
Person Specification

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist with:

  • Experience of working autonomously at an advanced level in specialty areas.
  • Evidence of management and leadership experience.
  • Evidence of student supervision and clinical education.
  • Advanced clinical, managerial, and leadership skills in specialty.
  • Proven listening/counselling skills, with the ability to manage complex situations and deliver sensitive outcomes.
  • Able to use skills of history taking and physical assessment to direct patient care.
Salary and Benefits
